Sergeant Theo (Ted) Verheul (1926-1976) Dutch military
Theo lived with his grandfather until his enlistment. He trained in England for a half year. Served at Soerabaja, Indonesië in 1947.

1947 Ned-Indië Kruis voor Orde en Vrede
The Cross for Order and Freedom was awarded to Nederland soldiers active during the Indonesian battle for independence.

Peter Van Roomen served in Eastern Java from 1947 until 1950. He was in the 2^nd battalion as a brengun carrier driver. His war memories... "found a gun in a downed Japanese aircraft...". Pete's daughter Michele, married Ted's son, Mark.


Harry Janssen; Ted Verheul's brother in-law, was a chef for KLM in Indonesia.
Theo would visit his sister, Leonarda (Lou) in Djakarta during his enlistment.

Ted Verheul died April 11. He is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, North Bay, Ontario, blocks L to M.

Ted's hobby was painting.
