Military: 2nd Field Regiment RCA, 1st Division.
Landed in Sicily in July 1943, under General Montgomery of the British 8th army, served in the Italian campaign till Feb. 1945. Then joined the other Canadian Forces in Europe till the war ended. Upon landing back in Windsor he continues to serve faithfully his Lord, and family.
Passed away into the presence of the Lord on February 25, 2014 at the age of 92. Dear brother of the late Robert Palmer (wife Dorothy), the late Leslie Palmer, Helen Palmer, Stanley Palmer (wife Ethel), Joan Wilson (husband Gordon), and the late Kenneth Palmer (his late wife Sheila). Uncle to 18 nieces and nephews, 50 great-nieces and nephews, and many great-great-nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by many dear friends at Turner Road Chapel. Frank was proud to have served his country during WW II in the Italian campaign from 1943 - 1945 and later to have worked for 38 years as a letter carrier for Canada Post. Donations in his memory may be made to the RBC Ministries Canada or to the Charity of your Choice. Visitation will take place at the Walter D. Kelly Life Celebration Centre (519-252-5711) on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A celebration of Frank's life will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Turner Road Chapel beginning at 10:30 am. Interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. |
