Personal Notes:
Origin of Molenaer-Moolenaar family name.
The first indication to “ de Beemster “ as the area of origin of our name was found in the church books of the Dutch Reformed church in Haarlem. In the baptism book of the “ Grote Kerk “ in Haarlem it was recorded that on 16 March 1704 Cornelis was baptized, son of Adrien Molenaer “ from de Beemster “.
In the church records of this church can be found on a page headed “ Addition to the Church Community “ that on Friday 11 January 1704 “ Ariaen Molenaer, married man from de Beemster on this date did his confirmation in the church.”
Next we find in the baptism, marriage and funeral records of the Reformed Church in “ Middenbeemster “ detailed information on the family from which Adriaen or Ariaen originated: the marriage of his father Cornelis Teunisz, the dates of baptisms and addresses where the children of Cornelis were born and finally a precise indication of the place where Cornelis died in Jan 1674 as “ in the second main mill on the Quadijker track.”
This information was supplied by Erik Moolenaar of Voorschoten. He also supplied the following information on Cornelis Molenaar who was baptized in Haarlem in 1704.
