Victor, Emil Janssen - artist (1803 - 1845)

Born: 1803 in Hamburg. Victor Emil Janssen was a pupil of Peter Cornelius and others from the romantic circle of the "Nazarener" Bewunderer Raffaels.

In 1828,1832 or 1835 he paints his second self portrait. titled: (tr) Alone act in front of easel. Technique: Leinwand.

The artist portrays his naked torso in the bedroom before the easel. The picture works in light arrangement, body attitude and screen window decay.

Most works were personally burned.
The remaining works went to his friend and temporary life companion, Friedrich.

Emil dies in 1845 at 38 years old in the city of Hamburg where he was born.
Cause of death might be tuberculosis.
Victor might also have suffered from mental illness.
