SWEET, Roger Lawrence 65 years. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Roger on August 25, 2008. Loving husband of Rose (nee Grondin). Cherished father of Kim; Terri-Lynn (Ken); Tracy (Ken); and Kelly (Jason). Predeased by parents Lawrence (2000), Marjorie (1993) and his in-laws Alexander (1989) and Lillian Grondin (1993). Special papa to Crystal, Richard (R.J.), Gage, Amber, Skyler, Kayla, Sarah and Eric. Great-papa to McKyla. Survived by his brothers Bob (Kathy); Arnold (Richard); Art (Linda); Barry (Lorraine); Mark (Cheryl) and Doug (Rosanne); and brother-in-law to Norman Grondin (Theresa); Mabel Martin (Fred 2007); Denis (1993) Joan; Mary Anne Van Buskirk (Dave); Jeannie Garant (Roger); Linda Dunn; Harry Grondin; Tom Rondot (Louise). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. James Frey and Jim Hennin held a special place in Roger's heart along with many very special friends. Roger was a G.M. Trim retiree but remained active as the chairman of the executive of the C.A.W. Retirees Chapter 1973. He was the Retiree of the Year for the C.A.W. He was an active volunteer for many organizations as he was a very passionate, strong union representative. Roger was a dedicated member of the Fr. Nicholas Point Council 4375 Tecumseh Knights of Columbus. Visiting Wednesday, from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Marcotte Funeral Home and Chapel, 12105 Tecumseh Road, Tecumseh (519-735-2830). Parish prayers Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus prayers Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The funeral will begin on Friday, August 29, 2008 at 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Anne Church or a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Robert Couture will be the celebrant. Cremation to follow. In kindness, a donation to the Windsor Essex County Cardiac Wellness Centre or to the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Roger in the Marcotte Heritage forest. A dedication service will be held on September 28, 2008. All are welcome. |
