Memorial notice: "In loving memory of our father Peter Johannes vanRoomen, who passed away one year ago, today December 1, 2006. Our father was born in Hilversum the Netherlands on June 21, 1926. He served in the Royal Dutch Army stationed in Indonesia from 1947 until 1951. Peter worked for Shell Oil in Rotterdam as a steamfitter while also operating the Pendrecht Driving School until 1959 when he decided to immigrate to Canada with his wife and small daughter. They settled in Uxbridge Ontario, where he stated his own plumbing business as the 'County Plumber'. In 1963 Peter moved his young family to Windsor where he was offered a position at Chrysler's as the head steamfitter in plant three, where he worked for over 30 years until his retirement. Peter was also a proud member of the Colour Party with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 255 where he was a member for many years. Our father was an avid camper who took his family tenting and hiking for two weeks every summer. Most importantly, Peter had three daughters, and eight grandchildren who all cared about him. We are remembering you Dad, on this anniversary. Zwanette, Petra & Michele."
