Personal Notes:
Hilda Irene Moore was born on a farm just outside of Harrow on April 4th 1919. As a child she lived and worked on her parent's farm. Some of her jobs as a child were growing and suckering tobacco. She also helped her dad hang the tobacco in the barn to dry out. Hilda met and fell in love with Harry Mills in 1934. She used to sit on a fence and watch Harry do construction on the roads with his horses. They were married on May 10th 1939and bought their own farm on the eighth concession of Colchester North. From there, they moved to a home in Gesto. Because of the war they lived in the garage, until the people that lived in the house moved out and then they moved into the house. Here together they raised 5 boys and 1 girl. Harry died in 1955 and Hilda, as hard as it was raised 6 children on her own for the next 38 years until she married Lawrence Sweet on November 6th, 1993. Lawrence died a short 7 years later (July 2000) and Hilda was once again on her own. Hilda lived and died on the home place in Gesto. Hilda had 6 children, 21 grandchildren, (3 predeceased), 28 great grandchildren (1 predeceased) 21 step grandchildren and 26 step-great grandchildren. Hilda is survived by one sister Blanche Mountain who resides in Harrow.
