Beek = brook First recorded in the 9th century. Beek was the name of a shipping bank in the land of Valkenburg in 1453. The bank and the cities of Beek and Spaubeek amalgamated. This state was also part of a large farming area that fed the industrial cities of Europe. The shield of Thetis is of unknown historical significance but used as a general symbol of the "speakers of the right". Around 1350 the Deutse Order through acquisitions controlled the Vroenhof agricultural holdings, the land domains, and amalgamated the city of Neerbeek . The crest is the combined shields of Valkenberg, Deutse Orde, and the family Huyn.
