Personal Notes: |
In 1774 he bought 250 acres in Rowand County on Abbot's Creek. Came from New York in the summer of 1783, he was a loyalist to England. He was on a list to join General McDonald but rebels captured him. When Charleston was besieged he was to be drafted. He escaped and took 111 men with him. He joined up with Col. Brians militia as part of Lord Cornwalis's Army. They surrendered at Yorktown. He remained a prisoner with the North Carolina Volunteers until prisoners were exchanged and peace came to the province. During this time the grist mill and plantation were destroyed and the cattle driven off. He settled in Grand Bay, Kings County. |
